Up and running in a minute

Windows 10 and 11

  1. Install Git for Windows if you don't have it — it brings the sign-in helper ZookaGit uses.
  2. Unzip ZookaGit-win-x64.zip into a folder you keep, for example C:\Apps\ZookaGit.
  3. Run ZookaGit.exe. If Windows SmartScreen asks, choose More info → Run anyway.

macOS 12 and later

  1. Git comes with Apple's command line tools: run git --version in Terminal and accept the install if asked.
  2. Open the zip (Apple silicon for M1 and later, Intel for older Macs) and drag ZookaGit to Applications.
  3. Open it from Applications. If macOS says it can't check the app, right-click it and choose Open once.

Linux

  1. Install Git from your distribution, e.g. sudo apt install git.
  2. Extract and run:
    tar -xzf ZookaGit-linux-x64.tar.gz
    chmod +x ZookaGit
    ./ZookaGit
  3. Needs a desktop session (X11 or XWayland).
Sign in once. Open Accounts in ZookaGit and sign in to GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps or Gitea. Your tokens stay in your system's credential store.
Updating. Download the new version and replace the files. Your settings and repositories stay where they are.
Check the file. Copy the SHA-256 above and compare it with Get-FileHash <file> (Windows) or shasum -a 256 <file> (macOS, Linux).
